As parents, there are things we want our children to know. Things we want them to hear from us, to learn from us. This is my chance to do that.
While I was pregnant with Hudson, I kept a journal which started the day I learned I was pregnant. At least once a week I would write to my baby. The writing became more involved once we learned Baby S was a boy, then once we named him. It became personal to him with the little life I was imagining for my son. I planned to continue to write to him each month so that when he was older he had this collection of "love letters" documenting his changes and accomplishments, in addition to my hopes and wishes for him. I started writing them again around the 3 month mark after he passed. Hudson will never read these letters as they were intended but as I write them, he watches over us and that's my way of sharing them with him.
These are my letters of love to my son.

Dear Katie
ReplyDeleteI am truly so sorry for your loss. I found your blog because my toddler daughter was in the hospital, and she received a book with Hudson's inscription on it from the children's library. Through her many ongoing medical issues, she loves reading that book and knowing how much you loved your son. Hudson is often in our thoughts and included in our prayers every night. Sending lots of love to you and your family. AKL
